How did October come and (nearly) go so quickly?

The past three weeks have flown by -- flown! -- and I'm just now catching my breath.  What have I been up to?

obsessively baking Challah bread

working out the triceps

buying $10 end tables and...

refinishing them on a shoestring with some paint left in our basement

and hanging with old college buds.

The Mother Hubba Hubba

This is a hubbard squash.

It's the behemoth of all squash varieties.
It's as big as a 20-pound baby.

The cavity of the vegetable is quite small, so you literally get pounds of squash from one of these puppies.

What do you do with it?

Chop it up.

Bake it.

Steam it.

Make pumpkin bread and toss it into soups and stews all winter!
